Amethyst Jewellery

We adore amethyst jewellery. From pale lilac gemstones to deep pools of liquid imperial purple, in our opinion there are very few outfits that could not be improved by the addition of an amethyst bracelet or pair of amethyst earrings.

How to choose jewellery for the woman you love

A guide for the clueless

Buying jewellery for someone else can be tricky. When they're supposed to be your nearest and dearest, the stakes are even higher. But so are the rewards. Imagine her unwrapping the present, opening the box and turning to you with her eyes sparkling with delight. The gift of a well chosen piece of jewellery has the potential to succeed like few other gifts can.

If you're stuck for an idea or simply desperate for some help in choosing a last minute gift, then we'd like to help you choose the right gift for her.

The key to buying the perfect jewellery gift is making it personal. For most women, the jewellery that they wear is an intimate, personal choice. Many of her favourite pieces will have some kind of history, or special meaning. Ideally, so will your gift.

In order to succeed at this, you need to avoid the obvious trap of just buying jewellery because it's expensive and "all girls love jewellery". While both may be true, a gift that betrays a lack of thought and consideration may be worse than none at all! Now that doesn't mean that you have to spend days agonising on the perfect pair of earrings to buy her (necessarily - if you're trying to choose an engagement ring then you probably should), but it does mean that you should take a bit of time to think about her tastes before you make your purchase.

The easiest way to do it is try and remember what kind of jewellery she normally wears: Does she wear lots of bracelets and rings, or does she prefer to stick to necklaces and pendants as they get in the way less when she's working? Does she have pierced ears for stud or hook earrings?

The next thing to think about is the purpose of your gift. Do you want to buy her something she will wear everyday, all the time? Or are you looking for something with a little more wow factor that may be more appropriate for an evening out or with a particular favourite outfit?

Once you've done that, then you just need to decide on her style. Buy her the kind of jewellery that she likes, not that you would like to see her wear.
